A sublimely quiet evening and night tucked away from the incessant wind was spent in a natural reservation at Playa la Mina (beach) with its emerald blue-green Atlantic waters, 30 km north of Puerto San Julian. Wild camping at its best.
The following day we retired for 24hrs at the municipal CG in Puerto San Julian …..clean, hot showers potable water to fill our camper tank, plus WIFI. A triple whammy. We were in 7th heaven!!
For us, quite plainly, the towns Gaiman and Puerto San Julian are the 2 jewels in the Patagonian crown. Even though both towns are surrounded by desert like conditions they still manage to look welcoming and possessing of a good self-image. Both of these commodities are sadly lacking in much of the SE part In Puerto San Julian there was a war memorial to the local heros who died during the conflict.
